Short answer
CPA suits paid traffic and fast campaigns that need a predictable return per sale. Revenue share suits audiences that stay and renew, such as SEO, communities and creators. Switch when your traffic changes, and test both side by side before moving everything.
- CPA pays once per approved sale, from $26 to $75 by tier, country and plan.
- RevShare pays up to 50% of every payment, renewals included, for life.
- Compare the two over months, not weeks, because RevShare builds over time.
- Many affiliates run both: CPA for paid traffic, RevShare for owned audiences.
Choosing a payout model is one of the most important decisions an affiliate makes, and one of the most misunderstood, because the better option on paper isn't always the better option for your traffic. Neither model is better in general. Each fits a different kind of traffic, and the right choice can change as your business grows. This guide explains both, shows how to compare them fairly and how to switch.
| CPA | RevShare | |
|---|---|---|
| What you earn | A fixed amount per approved sale | A share of every payment your referrals make |
| OmniPink rate | $26 to $75 by tier, country and plan | 40% at Pink, 45% at VIP, 50% at PRO |
| Renewals | Not paid again | Paid on every renewal |
| Cash flow | Faster and predictable | Slower start, grows over time |
| Risk | Lower: you know each sale's value | Depends on how long subscribers stay |
| Best for | Paid traffic, testing, broad audiences | SEO, communities, creators, loyal audiences |
Example: 20 subscribers referred in one month.
- CPA: you earn a fixed payout for each of the 20 approved sales, once. After that month, those subscribers earn you nothing more.
- RevShare: you earn your share of their first payments, then your share of every renewal for as long as each one stays subscribed.
If most subscribers leave quickly, CPA wins. If many stay for months, RevShare wins, often by a wide margin. The deciding factor is retention, which depends heavily on how well your audience fits the app.
Example: the same 20 subscribers, assuming a monthly price and that some cancel each month. Numbers are illustrations, not quotes.
| Month | CPA earnings | RevShare earnings that month | RevShare total so far |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | All CPA paid | Share of 20 first payments | Lower than CPA |
| 3 | Nothing new | Share of renewals from those still subscribed | Approaching CPA |
| 6 | Nothing new | Share of renewals | Often above CPA for loyal audiences |
| 12 | Nothing new | Share of renewals | Well above CPA if retention is strong |
The crossover point depends on retention. Audiences that stay subscribed reach it sooner and keep earning long after.
RevShare is a bet on how long your referrals stay. You can influence that:
- Audience fit: people who wanted exactly what the app offers stay longer.
- Honest expectations: buyers who know what they are getting rarely cancel early.
- The app itself: daily-use products like an AI companion naturally keep subscribers.
- Trust in you: recommendations from someone the buyer trusts lead to longer subscriptions.
| Traffic | Usually better | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Paid tube, native, pop and push | CPA | You need to recover ad spend quickly and predictably |
| SEO and review sites | RevShare | Informed readers tend to stay subscribed |
| Discord, Reddit and Telegram communities | RevShare | Trust drives retention |
| Creators and AI model accounts | RevShare | Fans who follow you often stay |
| Broad, cold or mixed audiences | CPA | Retention is unpredictable |
| Testing a brand-new source | CPA | Clean, fast feedback |
From CPA to RevShare
- Your traffic has shifted from paid to owned: a site, community or following.
- Your audience trusts you and comes back often.
- Your conversion report shows a high share of yearly plans, a sign of committed buyers.
- You can afford slower cash flow in exchange for long-term income.
From RevShare to CPA
- You started buying traffic and need to know exactly what a click is worth.
- Your audience is broad or changes constantly, so retention is low.
- You need predictable cash flow for ad budgets.
- Your RevShare earnings per month stay flat because subscribers leave quickly.
Comparing a CPA month with a RevShare month is misleading, because RevShare earnings keep arriving for months after the click.
- Run both on similar traffic. Split a placement or alternate weeks, with separate sub-IDs.
- Measure over at least three months. Count every RevShare payment from the test period's subscribers.
- Compare earnings per click for the same clicks, not per calendar month.
- Factor in cash flow. If you buy traffic, money earned in month six may not help you pay for ads in month one.
Tip: the earnings estimator on the CPA tiers page helps you model the CPA side. For RevShare, look at how long your referred subscribers tend to stay in your reports.
Many experienced affiliates don't choose. They match the model to each source:
- CPA links on paid campaigns, where predictability matters.
- RevShare links on owned audiences, where retention compounds.
- Separate labels for each, so reports stay clean.
One OmniPink account supports this. Talk to support about the right setup for your traffic.
- Blogger with some paid promotion: RevShare on review pages, CPA on paid campaigns that promote those pages.
- Community owner: RevShare on community placements, CPA on one-off partner newsletters.
- Media buyer: CPA on all paid campaigns, RevShare on a small owned audience such as a Telegram channel built from retargeting.
- Creator: RevShare on bio links and channels, CPA if you run paid boosts for a launch.
- Do I pay for this traffic? If yes, lean CPA.
- Does this audience trust me and come back? If yes, lean RevShare.
- Can I wait several months for the full value? If no, lean CPA.
- Are many buyers choosing yearly plans? If yes, retention is likely good.
- Have I tested both on this source? If no, test before switching everything.
- Contact support and describe your traffic and which model you want for which sources.
- Confirm the setup for your links, including which offers to use.
- Create new links for the new model, with the same Source ID and sub-IDs.
- Replace links in your placements and test each one.
- Note the switch date in your link sheet, so you can compare before and after.
Existing subscribers stay on the arrangement they were referred under. The switch applies to new referrals through your new links.
Heads up: switching back and forth every few weeks makes your data impossible to read. Give a model at least a few months on a source before judging it.
RevShare earnings arrive differently from CPA, so read them differently:
- New sales show the first payments from newly referred subscribers.
- Renewals show recurring payments from subscribers referred in earlier months.
- Earnings by click date tell you what a period of traffic is really worth, including its renewals.
Look at renewals as a share of your monthly RevShare earnings. A growing share means your earlier work keeps paying, which is exactly what RevShare is for.
- Both models rise with your tier: CPA pays more per sale at VIP and PRO, and RevShare grows from 40% at Pink to 45% at VIP and 50% at PRO. See the RevShare tiers and the CPA tiers.
- Approved sales count toward tiers under both models, so either choice helps you reach VIP at 20 and PRO at 100.
RevShare is wonderful for long-term income and harder on short-term cash. If you rely on affiliate income to pay bills or ad budgets, plan for the gap:
- Start new owned audiences on RevShare while keeping a CPA source for steady monthly cash.
- Keep a buffer of a few months of expenses if you move most traffic to RevShare.
- Remember that payouts are monthly on NET-15, so earnings arrive weeks after the sale.
- Judging RevShare after one month.
- Using RevShare on paid traffic you need to recover quickly.
- Using CPA on a loyal community where subscribers stay for a year.
- Mixing models under the same labels.
- Switching models too often to learn anything.
Can I use different models for Sugarlab AI and SpiceStars AI? Yes, talk to support about the setup. Companion subscribers often stay longer, which can make RevShare especially attractive for SpiceStars AI on owned audiences.
Do RevShare earnings stop if a subscriber pauses? You earn on payments made. If a subscriber stops paying, earnings from them stop, and resume if they pay again within the attribution rules.
Is RevShare really for life? Yes, for subscribers credited to you, as long as they keep paying and your account remains in good standing.
Which model do most beginners choose? It depends on their traffic. Beginners with an audience often start with RevShare; beginners testing paid traffic start with CPA.
Contact support before switching models, or if you are unsure which suits a new source. Include your traffic sources, countries and a rough idea of volume. PRO affiliates can discuss this with their account manager.
There is no permanent answer, only the right model for each source right now. Match the model to the traffic, test before you switch and give each choice enough time to show its real value.
